  • My trip to Sydney

Had a wonderful week in Sydney. It was my first research conference and I really enjoyed the experience.
We had a little play time and did a quick tour around the harbour.....and a little shopping.

  • We have moved to Perth

Well we move our furniture tomorrow and have spent the last month at my mum's house.
Time has flown. We are moving into a town house in the centre of Joondalup which is a 10 year old city with a city centre which is modern and full of conveniences.
We have never lived without a garden and close to all amenities so we will let you know what we think.
My new job is wonderful the people are great and I can see lots of opportunity for great things in the future.
David's new job is great and he also is enjoying the change.
We admit that we miss people from our wonderful Bunbury life but we plan to make the effort to keep in touch.
Any negative aspects of the move are not apparent yet.
We look forward to the newly weds from Melbourne coming back to Perth to live in a few months.
All the family will then be in Perth and we plan to see everyone lots.
I should be posting more regularly very soon.
No new pics worth talking about as we have been flat out with moving.

  • Almost 2009

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas
We had a relatively quiet day...no dramas which was nice.
The boys were home and my mum came.
Laura is in Melbourne and we are all heading there early in January for her wedding to Scott.
Hard to imagine that my girl is getting married.

Well apart from a wedding on the horizon there are other changes afoot.
David and I are leaving our home of the past 15 years and heading to the city.
We both have new jobs and will start in Feb.
The sad part will be leaving our friends.
It will be like an adventure. We are looking forward to the challenge.
It will be lovely to be close to the boys. Even if E only visits for dinner it will be good to see more of him.
We are not selling the house we are going to keep it.
We have done too much to it to sell it and with prices stalling we think we will just hang on to it for a while.
Not sure where we are going to live yet. Just waiting for the wedding and then on our return to Perth we will make some decisions.
Will try to blog more often.

I have not taken any photos for such a long time.
A new camera is in order I think.
    Happy New Year to all.

This is Laura and her lovely Bridesmaid Alissa.

  • Such a long time has passed

Well here it is June and so much has happened. We have just been to Melbourne for 6 days and we had a marvelous time filled with so many adventures. I looked at the photos and realised that I hardly took any photos and only have one of Laura and Scott. Hopefully Sue will have some other photos of our time in Melbourne. We met Scott's lovely brother and his wife and their son. We saw where the wedding is going to be held up in the Yarra Valley which is a very beautiful place. We ooed and arrred over potential wedding dresses, saw two games of football at two wonderful venues, had a trip up and down the Yarra river, drove along the Mornington Penninsular and shopped till we dropped. Such a wonderful holiday and now we are  back at work. On our day trip we also went to Dromana where we visited Heronswood and the home of the Diggers club. see below, a beautiful old home. We had magnificent weather while we were in Melbourne, only a little overcast on our final day.

  • Lots of news

We have been very busy on weekends for the past 6 weeks looking after a friends farmstay but now that is over and I am having my first weekend lazing about and trying to catch up with all those little jobs that pile up and are messy.
Laura and Scott are relocating to Melbourne and we are sad but can see that it could be a real adventure for them. I will miss my girl...lots. We just want her to be happy.
Elliot has a new house and flat mate in North Perth ...David is a furniture delivery man today.

We have a new car. It is a Honda David says it is red but it is not red it is maroon. Boys are not good with colour. I pointed out a fire engine red and said "that is red" he says it is all red!!!!! I thought I was taking a photo and it is actually a "nothing video"
Work is busy and the hours have been long and I have to start my study very soon!!! like tomorrow!!!! Hope to visit all your sites and say hi very soon.
Laura you can blog now and keep me posted with Melbourne.!! Elliot you can too and keep me posted with all things Perth.

  • SORRY

Our prime minister Kevin Rudd is a true statesman  and he deserves our full support not like the weazle opposition leader who had to go on to qualify the apology and make a goose of himself.

Prime Minister Kevin Rudd's apology motion has been tabled in Parliament:

Today we honour the Indigenous peoples of this land, the oldest continuing cultures in human history.

We reflect on their past mistreatment.

We reflect in particular on the mistreatment of those who were Stolen Generations – this blemished chapter in our nation’s history.

The time has now come for the nation to turn a new page in Australia’s history by righting the wrongs of the past and so moving forward with confidence to the future.

We apologise for the laws and policies of successive Parliaments and governments that have inflicted profound grief, suffering and loss on these our fellow Australians.

We apologise especially for the removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from their families, their communities and their country.

For the pain, suffering and hurt of these Stolen Generations, their descendants and for their families left behind, we say sorry.

To the mothers and the fathers, the brothers and the sisters, for the breaking up of families and communities, we say sorry.

And for the indignity and degradation thus inflicted on a proud people and a proud culture, we say sorry.

We the Parliament of Australia respectfully request that this apology be received in the spirit in which it is offered as part of the healing of the nation.

For the future we take heart; resolving that this new page in the history of our great continent can now be written.

We today take this first step by acknowledging the past and laying claim to a future that embraces all Australians.

A future where this Parliament resolves that the injustices of the past must never, never happen again.

A future where we harness the determination of all Australians, Indigenous and non-Indigenous, to close the gap that lies between us in life expectancy, educational achievement and economic opportunity.

A future where we embrace the possibility of new solutions to enduring problems where old approaches have failed.

A future based on mutual respect, mutual resolve and mutual responsibility.

A future where all Australians, whatever their origins, are truly equal partners, with equal opportunities and with an equal stake in shaping the next chapter in the history of this great country, Australia.
